I mean, im not a big fan of DARE either... when I first got into Gorillaz I was actually surprised at how many people consider it one of their favourite tracks.

Couldn't agree more. It's the only album I like overall

PB has some 10/10 tracks and some absolutely awful bullshit too, it's a mixed bag. I think this is their 'coolest' record because it's the only one with a rock feel

The debut and this are best, with this being the tightest and most consistent one. PB has some perfect moments but also some hiccups.

Debut is my fav. I think after this, the features got too plentiful and overtook that 'Gorillaz atmosphere' that permeated the first. Humanz was and is a joke, mainly because it doesn't even sound like a Gorillaz album. I think songs like Starshine from the first encapsulate what I love about the band, and its been lost over the years, to the point that we now get stuff like 'Humility'. Im all for artistic evolution, but they aren't even recognizable as the same band anymore, and if it weren't for Damon Albaurns distinct vocals and characters on the cover art, I probably wouldn't have associated their new music with the Gorillaz brand if i had heard it not knowing it was Gorillaz. Their music used to sound otherworldly.

Idk man I would say Plastic Beach sounds pretty unmistakably "Gorillaz", albeit less so but they were trying to to the whole tropical/beach theme

I think he meant Humanz when he spoke about not sounding like Gorillaz, not Plastic Beach.

I figured Plastic Beach was included in "after this", but I do agree about Humanz

agreed with the whole 'the features got too plentiful' thing, that's what bugged me about all the albums after this. The features started being a detriment. Everything after PB is not very good sadly. The debut and this have a timeless identifiable sound, PB is the last to have it especially 'On Melancholy Hill', that song feels like a send off or goodbye

Debut has some of their best, and absolute worst songs. This and beach are more consistent

Plastic Beach has a lot of good stuff, but there is also a lot of weird song choices like White Flag that I don't think fit with the record overall. Im still a fan of the band, make no mistake. Im just not a fan of where they've been going in recent years.

I agree with Pots.

I like the debut a lot, but this and PB are pretty clearly the two most consistently great Gorillaz records.
