thread has been live. for the most part i enjoy the closers, with the exception of what happened to you and this place is death. pretty indifferent to those because the entirety of their respective albums are lukewarm and uninteresting, not unlike gore but at least gore starts and ends well. rubicon is the best closer since riviere.

i'd like to wish away most of the guitar blah on Deftones albums, all the guitarist really has in his repertoire are walls of boredom and dumb riffs anyway. band only really feels special when teh drummer leads like on Digital Bath.
kick the dude out and program all yr future tunes on a laptop is my advice

Don't think this will pass the 4.0 mark for me. Some solid songs, but I agree it's just not on the same level as their older stuff.
Infact , today I'm picking up SNW from the store. It was about time for me to get the best tones album. Such an amazing record.

SNW isn't worlds better than this. its got cherry waves, beware, hole in the earth (sounds scarily like a coldplay song but still a decent track), xerces and kimdrcula but also some of their shittest material. This has a few great tracks - rubicon, phanton bride etc but some forgettable sutff like Xenon and Mirl.
Diamond eyes has got to be their most consistent album
