Guitarded I'll think about it maybe in a few weeks time - there are some great albums out now that need a review so feel I should leave the neg reviews for a little bit.
I'm sorry Sowing - it's me, it's probably irrational. I liked the O'Brother though

Doof can defend himself fine but I must say bringing up the "you can't 1 extremely popular and high rated albums" rule doesn't really help the argument as that is and always has been a silly rule.
There is no objectively good music - if you don't like it, you don't like it, and you don't need an in-depth argument as to why.

i agree its a silly rule and am simply mocking it really, meanwhile teasing doof a bit
i honestly dont care one bit, and i can see how some might not enjoy weezer, especially at this point in their career
sorry, my sarcasm didnt come across clearly

I 100% agree Boney
But I reserve the right to get pissy and butthurt =(

The scale starts at 1 so as I said on the KW thread musical competence starts at 1, that's all it gets. Everything else (song writing, virtuosity, lyrics, message, atmosphere, etc) builds on that otherwise why start the scale at 1 here?

Proceed with your pissyness/butthurtness, Sowing!
@guitarded, I should have taken the hint from your massive smiley face.

i have a question though, did you truly at no point during the album simply enjoy some of the melodies? i think one could point that out as being the most universally appreciable aspect (acknowledging of course not for everybody, just wondering)

I don't mind defending ratings and writing negative reviews but I don't want to fear rating stuff if I get called out on every 1-2 rating lol

Guitarded - found the melodies pretty standard, even the quieter/acoustic moments. The album held so few surprises, like I said I'd never actually sat through an entire album of theirs in one sitting before, was expecting these deep cut beauties behind the singles but it just sounded exactly like the same sound I'd heard from the hits

Well Doof I've never heard a full Weezer album myself so I can't really attest, but maybe you should force yourself to sit through one of their worst received albums - maybe you'll hate that enough that this'll be a 1.5 in comparison!

I'm angry at doof right now but I still wouldn't even remotely wish it upon him to have to sit through Raditude

i wouldnt want to live a life where im this old and have yet to listen to the blue album ftb ;]
blue pink maladroit green and ewbaite are all worth ftb listens, others have gems on them but they clearly gave up on consistent efforts there for awhile

Make Believe I guess is funny in some ways as Dino pointed out, also has some genuine tunes on it
but let me emphasise this right now for the record
Raditude is not funny. It's not fun to like ironically, or post-ironically. It's not a grower. It's not a shower, either. It's not something niche people can appreciate because of their specific tastes. It's not defendable. It's not excusable. It's literally a piece of absolutely filthy stinking garbage and there is no excuse for thinking otherwise
