It's all about 50s,60s,70s,90s.

80s had about 30 albums.

There's been about 7 albums since '98 worth a spin. You might 3.5 'em.

Pretty much

The difference between the quality of the 70s and 80s I was prepared for but even then it's shocking the drop off

i haven't done this one for a while but.

50s - The birth of post war white teen rebellion

60s - Counter culture with freedom and drugs.

70s - Artistic peak culminating in punk reclamation of rock roots.

80s - The birth of dance, hip-hop and a veering off in all directions contained by MTV.

90s - Apathy reigns and spawns a new flame.

00s - Digital age entitled art students playing with kazoos on jools holland

10s - Nothing.

We judge years by 'celebrity deaths' now? Were they too boring? No accidental decapitations

Agree film has been awful

It's going to speed up, Hollywood and popular music have been going for about 80 years now, it's not some fluke of bad luck

Plus that's saying there won't be some sort of horrific population crash coming up which statistically is long overdue - not to cast a downer on proceedings

Cheers dan! She's not quite on the level of my muses like Joanna Newsom, Agnes Obel, Björk, Fever Ray, Kate Bush etc just yet, but I'm only one album into her discog

@Doof yeah I didn't think this was bad luck, clearly a lot of the greats of the mid to late 20th Century are getting very long in the tooth, just a shame we've had so many so quick

"Anyone else feel like this homie's death has been the starting point of endless waves of new and good music"

in that it inspired said music directly?

probably not, since most of the bands releasing music this year have had that music in the works pre-2016
