As many have said, without the event surrounding it's release it's still a hard 4 and a damn good album.

The thing that I find so distressing is this really is a full stop.
In terms of the old generation, the original pioneers making boundary expanding, relevant albums that actually make you think, question and inspire this is it.
Has Dylan got something in him? Probabaly but we won't understand a bleedin word cos his voice is shot to shit.

It still doesn't feel real, I've felt pretty much numb since he passed.

Part of me hopes those five demoes get finished and released as THE final Bowie recordings, but I also feel they should be left alone.
The line "I know something is very wrong" is really the giveaway. Also, his tune "Afraid", though from 2002's Heathen, is pretty reflective now, with the second verse:
"What made my life so wonderful?
What made me feel so bad?
I used to wake up the ocean
I used to walk on clouds
If I put faith in medication
If I can smile a crooked smile
If I can talk on television

I think this album is great, and I'm a Bowie fanboy, but it's not his magnum opus and it certainly isn't a 5. Still a great album though.
