Damn, there are some killer tracks here. I love Come Back, Luna and Brought to the Water. They hit all the right spots for me.

I actually prefer this to Sunbather. I quite like how it seems to be a bit more soaked in misery. However I'll go back to Sunbather and re-evaluate as everyone seems to agree on this point!

Brainmelter, the guitars may sound a bit flat as the album was recorded live to tape! Pretty cool turn I think (but you are right).

why would they sound flat when recorded on tape?

The only weak moments on here are some of the repetitive metal riffs and chugging. The shoegazey/post-rock sections are fantastic, as well as the wall-of-sound moments. The production sounds fine to me.

it's good until those untuned guitar moments punch you in the face.

thats really strange, for me deafheaven is one of the ONLY bands that regularly comes to Wisconsin, strange to hear they regularly don't visit more popular places

well if I do my best to not be blinded by my fanboyism, this album is a bit of a jumbled mess stylistically, and really only tracks #1 and #2 feel like completed songs

#4 sounds like two different disjointed ideas slapped together

#5 sounds like a B-side
