On the CD version of the 20th anniversary edition (which I'm assuming is the same as the Spotfiy version) the liner notes say all tracks were remastered in 2014 by Jens Bogren (not remixed though). So i believe it's a remastered version of the original '94 mix followed by a remastered version of the '93 mix.

As for the 10 song version on Spotify, hard to tell but yeah I'd say your reasoning is sound and it's the '99 remaster.

I should probably listen to the 20th anniversary version then if it has alternative mastering to the '99 one (as it does appear that's the one I've already heard). I just felt it had all the makings of something potentially awesome but the volume levels were an issue.

Thanks Scuro.

Hey no worries. Having never heard the '99 version I'm quite curious actually, but I will say that the '93 mix is my favourite. It's only just struck me how many times I've said "version" so far too.

Is that the previously un-released 'demo' mix on the anniversary edition, or am I getting my 93/94 confused? Thought the original album was released in '94.

Yeah I prefer the alternate '93 mix to the standard '94 mix, though it's not really a demo mix per se, certainly not demo quality or anything. Essentially the guitars are boosted a little, keys are toned down a bit, mix is a little more even etc. Minor stuff but it takes the overpowering edge off the symphonic side and that makes a difference to me.

That's cool. Now I have two MORE versions to jam, haha. I'll re-download the anniversary edition & give them both a go at some point. Hopefully the frequencies play less havoc with my (clearly) sensitive hearing & I can full appreciate this.

I actually enjoyed the album after this one more but that could easily be because of the moments of discomfort caused by the mastering. Let's see, hope the other versions make a difference.

I just figured Gorguts, Isis, Mastodon, Ulcerate, Shade Empire, or Saor would have done the trick long ago
