Why oh why doesn't Piss Crown's climax last more than 20 seconds?!! 🙁 (5:10 - 5:30)

Lambs' Breath is the best song on this though. That drone is beautiful

Entire album is beautiful. Even the live versions called Behemoth (at least the few I heard) also have a long drone section in the middle.

ChoccyPhilly, I'll give it a few more spins, but don't get your hopes high 😉 When I want drone, I go for Stars of the Lid or Labradford.

In general going for Kranky is a good way to go for sure, Artax did you jam Set Fire To Flames ?

I listened to samples and read about it, but I didn't dive. I feel it's gonna be like Silver Mt. Zion, i.e. good but making me nostalgic about GY!BE and feeling like it's a slightly inferior and derivative band. I'm very much aware I could be wrong, but the Silver Mt. Zion experience felt a bit like that for me. I like their first two albums (and the last one too, although it's more noise rock than post-rock at this point), but I feel that in that sound range, I prefer either GY!BE or Rachel's most of the time. I need to give them more extensive listening though. But please, do change my mind about Set Fire to Flames! 😉

Yeah Choccy Lamb's Breath is a beautiful drone track, but I just find the structure of the middle third of this all being drone to be a lull in the momentum a bit.

"but I just find the structure of the middle third of this all being drone to be a lull in the momentum a bit."
That's the whole point though, and it works.

Artax Set Fire To Flames's first LP does bring up the oldschool GYBE vibes for sure, it's not bad at all but I'll agree that its a tad too identified.
If you really want to be on another planet listen to Telegraphs in Negative / Mouths Trapped In Static. Recorded in a barn during a whole week of sleep as well as food deprivation and drugs, the whole things sounds barely alive as an album and is litered with field recordings that'll haunt you, especially a particular phone call. Do give it a go if you're felling adventurous with your drones and still do wish for a distant ghost of connection to GYBE.

Very underrated; better than Yanqui, better than Allelujah.
The buildup from the droning in Lambs Breath all the way to climax in Piss Crowns is so superbly done. I'm saddened that people don't think this is good.

this is good, not better than Allelujah though

I don't like Allelujah as much because the album starts at the high point (mladic) and goes downhill from there.

I like that song too. I just think the album could've benefitted from a different song order. I would prefer Mladic last since it's the best song by quite a margin.
