It's true, Phenomenon will still be blowing my mind in 10 years i'm sure. I used to think the first 3 songs were too straight forward for the beginning of the album, but now I love how it kind of gets your guard down and then Phenomenon comes in and things start getting weird, then the album just goes off the rails from that point and you get basically everything you ever wanted through the rest of it.

yeah it's pretty good – mr. madsen fucked up the mastering though (i guess) so i don't listen to it much out of concern for my ears

It can get a little too chunky yeah, one of the few albums that actually makes my headphones rumble on my ears at higher volumes which can be uncomfortable.

Tue Madsen does wonders with low DR, although he's done better on DSS and Uroboros Remaster.

I'm used to production this loud I guess since I've watched so many 2000 onwards Jap lives and albums (they really don't give a fuck about loudness war). Only place where the production really bothers me is how badly they neutered Sustain the Untruth compared to the single. Pretty much nearly every song on this has a moment which has me lost for breath for a moment, especially Kukoku and Image.

yeah the loudness war is really bad in japanese music
my issue is that this one has flagrant clipping (dum spiro spero had none)

Yeah sustain the untruth on this album is fucking horrendous. But I prefer the production on their single versions to the album versions anyway. But damn they fucked up with sustain, compressed so badly.

Despite how much the production is botched that chorus still makes me scream every time ^_^

Also Day 1 Archekan Sustain may be the best Sustain ever, absolutely stunning.

"Rinkaku" sounds better on the album. So do all DSS singles, especially "Lotus".

I think Rinkaku is even when it comes to album version vs live, DSSkan Lotus has killed studio Lotus for me since it's so incredible.

Fuck it, I'm 5-ing this. Stills sounds as fresh to me as day 1 and I enjoy the shit out of it.

Kyos' vocals are bliss.

I'd say all of them are top talent but of course Kyo is a next level performer.

Kyo steals the show all the time, but if you pay attention, all of them are good at their instruments without being technical.

Disagree, Evo, "Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami" sounds miles better on the single version -- to me. Guitars breath so much better. I just find they compress the balls off the singles when it comes to them being on the album. "Rinkaku" is probably the only exception I think.
