There's no need for that.

Simply disregard that point I made, because it wasn't what I meant to say, sorry.

What parts aren't opinion?! Are you telling me there are characteristics that are universally hated and liked to all humans that ever existed? If so, then yes, we cold talk about "objectivity" here but of course I write reviews based on my opinion. you're supposed to write it in a way that you describe the music well enough that someone might read it and think they could be into it even if you aren't.

Well, there's no strict criteria for reviews, but that makes a good review in my mind

Anyways, the album is still great for me, I've got the blu-ray, which is great. The bonus tracks are nice too.

I don't know how I feel about this one. It's enjoyable and mostly interesting but it's just...I don't know. Very different.

idk, I haven't heard Heritage so for me I find this approach to their writing interesting but it's definitely not what I was expecting quality wise.

Scuro check Heritage for sure, it's more unpredictable and sincere than this with less annoying vocals. It also puts this in better context, this seems to be catering to the fans more by trying to be heavy.

Heritage will always be better than this.

It's certainly more inspired, you might be right.

Yeah, I've been meaning to check it out. I probably should've listened to it before this but oh well.

It helps if you are into 70's prog metal/rock. I never e.g. Rainbowed or Cameled so Heritage is eh for me.

I like it more than Heritage. It's a bit more Opeth.

Heritage is a lot more Opeth imo. It still has their trademark sound but in a completely different context. This, on the other hand, is more melodic but it's not really Opeth-y melodies most of the time

I should probably point out that I'm also offering my subjective opinion.

I don't know if I agree with that onirium, Elysian woes and others have lots of classic opethy acoustic parts and the first half of moon above sun below basically sounds like them trying to recapture their old sound especially with some of those dissonant chords

Ok yeah the album still feels like Opeth most of the time, but with songs like River and Voice of Treason,

you can't really it sounds like Opeth's trademark sound. I don't say it makes them bad, both songs are still

excellent, but they definitely sound different. On Heritage, most of the time I can hear the rich tones, the

autumnal atmosphere and pretty much everything that characterized their earlier sound, but within a new

context
