Cockroach King and In Memorium are my favourite songs from these guys

Cockroach King is a great song to lure people in. But really, The Mountain is packed with huge songs. Falling Back to Earth is also crazy.

Got so much cognitive dissonance with this album, like it's great and clearly the best Haken record, but it just doesn't sink in any emotional hooks for me the way Aquarius does

And it feels like it should. Ugh just want the final pieces to click

Aquarius is also top Haken, so don't worry.

Pre sure we've talked about this before (?) (maybe?) but interesting ranking, having Visions and Aquarius so demonstrably split

Haven't been able to enjoy any of their stuff from Affinity on, but the modern chug-prog sound is very not my bag in general so...

Visions is by far my least favorite thing these guys have done

Visions has some pretty catchy stuff, but it's very sterile for me.

BUT I WILL WAIT FOREVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRR

Sterility is a problem with this band in general I guess. At least for me they have very few songs that touch me on an emotional level. Actually I feel like I have to drop my ratings for their music ...

Ah idk, it took me while to realise I don't enjoy their music as much as I thought.

I enjoy these guys for what they are, with great melodies and guitarwork and soaring song structures. They excel at it especially on here and Vector, even if they're a bit sterile and lack real emotional value on most of their material

"Pareidolia" always gets me. That song, coupled with "As Death Embraces", is truly magical.

this album has so many good songs. Cockroach King, Falling Back to Earth and Pareidolia are 30 minutes enough to give this at least a 4.

I agree with the dude's that say they can appreciate the music but can't really connect with the band too deeply. The new album is a good example of that

the new album isn't bad but kind of embodies the problems with their sound, and further stripped down to its more djenty basics

@Omar what are you talking about? The new album is an emotional roller coaster...

@Ledd so playing chords is djent? k....

Emotions in music are highly subjective. I mean, people find clinical autotuned pop music emotional and that's as sterile as it gets. It either speaks to you or it doesn't
