"36 chambers wasn't about shit either"
It's been twenty-two long hard Annotateyears of still struggling
Survival got me bugging, but I'm alive on arrival
I peep at the shape of the streets
And stay awake to the ways of the world cause shit is deep
A man with a dream with plans to make cream
Which failed; I went to jail at the age of fifteen
A young buck selling drugs and such who never had much
Trying to get a clutch at what I could not touch
The court played me short, now I face incarceration
Pacin' - going upstate's my destination
Handcuffed in back of a bus, forty of us
Life as a shorty shouldn't be so rough
But as the world turns I learned life is hell
Living in the world no different from a cell
Everyday I escape from Jakes giving chase, selling base
Smoking bones in the staircase
Though I don't know why I chose to smoke sess
I guess that's the time when I'm not depressed
But I'm still depressed and I ask what's it worth
Ready to give up so I seek the old Earth
Who explained working hard may help you maintain
To learn to overcome the heartaches and pain
We got stickup kids, corrupt cops, and crack rocks and
Stray shots, all on the block that stays hot
Leave it up to me while I be living proof
To kick the truth to the young Black youth
But shorty's running wild, smoking sess, drinking beer
And ain't trying to hear what I'm kicking in his ear
Neglected for now but yo, it gots to be accepted
That what, that life is hectic

Being more about delivery than message doesn't equate to having no message.
But yeah at best either of their messages have already been said many times before they came along. So all they are really doing is making the same old messages catchier.

okay, should have said much of 36 chambers wasn't about shit.

kendrick not having a message wtf maybe earl but not kendrick dam
|

twenty-two long hard Annotateyears of still struggling gotta love rapgenius

My point was today there are hardly any new conscious rappers, who are more about message than delivery.
An old group, wu tang, not being mainly about message ( which I don't even agree with) when countless other ggroups and rappers at that time were, doesn't weaken my point.

but you picked bad examples
|
| |
You really still not understanding that being more about delivery than message doesn't mean you have no message... Literally just explained that.
|
| |
conscious rap is a stupid term, and you're wrong anyway, have you even listened to kendrick lamar?
|
| |
Only example I picked was ASAP rocky actually, you really think he has more message than flow?
|
| |
Earl and kendrick are more delivery oriented than about any actual messages. orly?
|
| |
Conscious rap is the most noteworthy story in the history of hip hop but ok.
Yeah Kendrick is often contradictory and sends mixed messages because he is mainly concerned with sounding cool and/ or catchy. You know "poetic justice. I told you a flower bloomed in a dark room would you trust it?" then "I like fucking bad bitches that's my fuckin problem"
|
| |
that second quote is a rocky song. have you ever listened to a kendrick album?
|
| |
Yeah how about "I pray my dick get big as the eifel tower so I can fuck the world for 72 hours goddamn I love bitches
Damn I love bitches
Damn I love bitches
Wifey girlfriend and mistress

maybe he's only heard backstreet freestyle
|
| |
The chorus vs lyrics in swimming pools is also a mixed message. He wants to be lime 2pac but is too pussy to not put pop chorus' in his albums that contradict the messages completely.
|
| |
you haven't listened to the album.
swimming pools is about alcoholism.
