Disappointed Longineu won't be re-joining them...
Will still be excited if this leads to a new album, though.

New song is such an earworm. Love the verses especially.
I accidentally stayed up last night (sick kids, long story) and decided to listen to the super late pacific time full EP stream since I was awake anyway; it felt like yet another revival for this band. I think it's the best they've sounded without LPIII although I'd still obviously take him back in a heartbeat.

Nice! This song far surpassed my expectations! It is so clean, catchy and the guitar/violin jam. The bridge doesn't do much for me is the only complaint. Could have climbed a bit higher. I listened to this 5 times through on my way to work so it is definitely infectious.
I sent it to my gf and she said "I think this may be their best song since ocean avenue. I love this *dancing emoji*"

I won't spoil anything but I will say that all the other songs were as good or better.
Also, that's definitely my favorite album art since Southern Air and might even tie Paper Walls for their best.

was pretty much everything I wanted out of their first single in years! can already tell it will hit differently in the car though so can't wait to give it a proper blasting

Did not like the single on first listen. Super bland for me

I think they sound completely rejuvenated again. You could tell at certain times on Lift a Sail and even Yellowcard that they were running out of steam.

Definitely agree with that, although this didn’t change my mind much either. Maybe it will grow on me

Damn Nash, I thought it was a bit by the books I suppose but it was just so smooth and infectious.

Most pop-punk is by the books technically speaking lol

I actually saw another thread about the single and many others were echoing my sentiment and then Ryan posted replies indicating he was bothered by the lack of love lol.
I think the chorus just falls flat.

^^ hence why I don't care that its by the books.
Pop punk can be done less by the books through! Yellowcard released songs on their last album like Fields & Fences which was not at all by the book.
The Wonder Years is another example, began as every song being by the book pop-punk and over time have developed songs with very different song structures and sounds.
At the same time, both still definitely write some of their songs by the book. Having the expectation of them shedding all the basics of their sound is going to always lead to dissapointment.
