there's enough to pass around
you don't gotta wait in line
and the clocks don't work
you don't gotta check the time
and the blinds don't work
you don't gotta check the sky

as fun as it was to be there with him in 2011 with the fucking epic consecutively release mixtapes throughout the year and wondering what the next one had in store
there is nothing wrong with that

yeah i wish i was into him at the time too. because when i really started getting into music the first band i really liked was the neighbourhood. i loved the kinda indie aesthetic but i loved the r&b stylings at the same time. i loved the xx too. the weeknd would've been perfect. but i think i started exploring more music in 2012-2013 so i would've been a little late on it

iirc the weeknd sort of sent me on a path of loving more "rnb", and just the new wave of soul-filled layered music thats been coming out the last while
"wish he still did songs like "XO / The Host"
wish he still tried to make good music

the best thing about these mixtapes is how sinister they all feel. it's like your in the mind of someone so out of touch with themselves and reality.

discovering HoB coincided pretty much exactly with when I started to be more sociable and emotionally mature rather than this awkward bitter loner that looked like he was always 2 mins away from going columbine, so it'll always be special for me for that

The worst thing is I'm not sure if that's a purposeful artistic choice or not

this is my fav mixtape. t/t is really powerful, sort of sums up 'the weeknd' as a whole. Agree with them all sounding fairly sinister in a way. It's definitely more relatable if you've seen the seedy underbelly of that sort of environment/life and experienced relationships/encounters of that calibre. If only he could do Pop with this aesthetic (I like BBTM) but still, OG the weeknd >>>>
