Matt (or whoever writes them) has a fucking way with vocal melodies man. And honestly, his singing was probably better here than ever before or since. Caustic Are the Ties That Bind is just fucking filled with them.
I kind of liken this to Trivium's comparative Black Album. Like they smoothed out everything the previous three albums did, removing some of the valleys but also some of the peaks achieved before. It's a consistent listen, yet somehow has both my absolute favorite Trivium track and several that I'd prefer to never listen to again. Weird AF.
