I WANT TO KILL EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD......WOMP WOMP

Yeah, Skrillex was my introduction to dubstep. I think his music is good, but I've definitely found other artists I enjoy more. I don't mind the womp, if it's used in context of the song. However, it can be similar to the "wank" that many feel progressive musicians resort to when they're out of ideas :P
I like Jame Blake's stance on it, especially regarding his usage of bass:
"Those melodic basslines are insultingly simple and aggressive and annoying. That is now a valid genre, but it certainly isn't dubstep. It's turned into something else. That's cool, I'm happy about it. I'm not like, 'As soon as it became mainstream it became rubbish, or whatever.' It's just something different now."

"Are we talking about elitists or tr00 dubstep fans in general? Because yeah, the elitists might. But that's taking the douchey side of the fanbase. I'd say most dubstep fans are smart enough to realize it's not necessarily skrillex's fault. I've said it many times before, I don't hate Skrillex, but I hate almost everything that has to do with him."
I'm talking about the elitists. So, yes I agree with you. I think Skrillex is great, but his fans are awful.
Something else that frustrates me is that I have friends who are into mostly hardcore music and they just say that they hate all "dubstep" because they hate Skrillex's fans. I don't think they even realize that not all dubstep sounds like Skrillex and that not all dubstep fans are like Skrillex fans. If you even say they word "dubstep" they immediately shut you down and start ranting about how much they hate Skrillex. I don't know they probably don't like any electronic music in general, but it's annoying how they lump everything into one notion that they falsely have.

Or when you play something that doesn't sound like a hundred keyboards dying in unison (Skrillex) they go, bro that ain't even dubstep
|
| |
Yeah, it's quite annoying when people assume that when others talk about dubstep, they're definitely talking about Skrillex. My Music Appreciation professor makes dubstep, and one of the students in my class was like "Hey, do you like Skrillex?" I went -_-
I have nothing wrong against him personally whatsoever, but his fans are annoying as hell.
