the whole abbey road medley could’ve been one song that’s part of what makes abbey road so amazing

I think George's interpretation of that super on the nose psychedelic sound is just less compelling than John's. and feels more forced in the way he presents it

I like it but the groove in the verse doesn't hit quite as hard as I need it to, the nonsense lyrics don't help either

The Abbey Road melody has always sounded more like a last-ditch effort to make some use of a load of unused bangers that would have worked far better as standalone songs (last 3 excepted maybe) than as a cohesive piece, and that (+Maxwell's +Oh Darling) is the main reason Revolver and Rubber Soul have the edge on it. Both have the odd slips, but these are mostly inoffensive - Rubber Soul esp is just one great song after another and the Exciting Innovative Songs on Revolver >>> the ones on Abbey
this album though is 33% genius 66% arse

the cultural impact of Sgt Peppers on normie psychedelia is huge enough that ignorant shitbrains can now take pieces directly styled off Indian devotionals and say things like "I think George's interpretation of that super on the nose psychedelic sound" as though it was directed (along with the rest at this) at a dumb hippy fad without wanting to exit stage left from earthly reality yes
All Things Must Pass was mostly written over the last years of the Beatles and the main reason it was so long was that John and Paul were far enough up their own arseholes to treat that material as B-tier since time immemorial

are you taking issue with me saying George's interpretation is less interesting because I'm describing it as George's interpretation when it's actually not really his own sound? that's ironic because that's pretty much exactly why I find it less interesting... but anyways I was having a good chat with nol...
