I'm not saying what Gilbert did wasn't crazy, just that it was funny and in a weird way sort of accurate. And I am seriously bitching on behalf of basketball (though not on behalf of Cleveland necessarily). I said all along that I would understand if he went back to the Cavs, and that I would respect that. I could even understand New York, so long as it wasn't under the guise of "winning." But it was a cheap, cowardly move to go to Miami.

I'm pretty sure you're the one who likes to use the logic of, "if 99% of people are saying one thing and you're saying the other, chances are you're wrong" -- well right now, everyone outside of Miami is calling LeBron a punk-ass and a coward who's taking the easy way out.

ANd they would be saying the same thing everywhere outside of Chicago if he went there. It's a no-win situation

Blake, you'd also be gloating if the Bulls grabbed him.

I certainly would, what's your point? I only called you out for that in response to the bitching comment. If the Bulls got him, I'd expect everyone else to bitch about it.

going to play with Rose and Noah is like MJ playing with Scottie and Rodman.

Going to play with Wade and Bosh would be like MJ going to play with Magic Johnson and Karl Malone -- which is why LeBron isn't and will never be MJ. Kobe's the closest we'll ever get, and not even he's on that level.

I wouldn't have been spewing the hate that you guys are, though, because I know that my team could have been good without LeBron. Without Lebron, this would have been a legitimate Eastern Conference contender, but with LeBron, this team become THE Eastern Conference contender. Sure, I would still be saying that "special" last night was an abomination, but I wouldn't be sitting here hating on the guy like this. Who am I to do that? Plus, WE'VE CREATED THIS OURSELVES!!!! We eat it up!!! We sit there and feed these attention whores exactly what they want: ATTENTION!! So if we are going to rip LeBron a new asshole, I guess we need to do the same to ourselves, don't we?

yeah but what would you be saying if Wade and Bosh had signed with the Bulls and LeBron had gone to New York?

Pit, you are correct about us eating it up. We all hated him for it, but we all watched it anyway.

I'd be upset, but that's different. For one, Wade became who he is down here in MIami, and Miami fans would have a legitimate reason to be upset. You're a Bulls fan. You didn't lose anything. Period.

Hans- The media and us fans created this monster, now we gotta live with it. It's as much our fault and the media's fault as it is LeBron's.

tbh i was blown away by that Dan Gilbert letter. i mean, i understand his bitterness and the emotions behind the outburst, but didn't expect it from somebody in the position of a Dan Gilbert, who constantly and obsequiously defended Lebron up to his decision last night. i would have expected more restraint. obviously his drunken boast that the Cavs will win a championship before Lebron is completely delusional

in my honest, unbiased opinion on the NBA, all this means is that Miami is the team to beat in the East. the Celtics might be able to squeeze one last great season/playoff run out of their veterans, and the Orlando Magic could still potentially pose a threat.

in all frankness, the Bulls organization failed to achieve a goal that they had really pinned their hopes of immediate contention on, and so any plans they had of being a championship-caliber team are still a couple years off. they'll be there in the playoffs but i don't think they're a major threat in the East just yet. and i do hold the Bulls organization accountable for not playing this free agency game better

in terms of the title, AS OF RIGHT NOW, i still think there is no team in the NBA better than the Lakers top to bottom. granted, Pat Riley is not done making moves and putting together his team, and he's done his job in getting three ridiculous players in their prime. so things might change. but for now, as talented as Lebron and D-Wade are, the mismatch in terms of size (with the Lakers' three roughly 7-footers in Gasol, Bynum, and Odom) would still pose HUGE problems for the Heat as they're currently constituted. that is what the Heat have to plan for overcoming

Pit - I'll give you that. I easily could have found out within seconds of his decision without watching the special (while I was supposed to be working no less), and then going home and watching sports center for an hour and a half.

But where in any of my comments have I complained about him not coming to the Bulls? that's not my issue, it's that he decided to basically circumvent the way the salary cap works (by taking less than what he was worth) to try to win a few cheap championships. If he had gone to New Jersey, New York, Cleveland OR Chicago I wouldn't be upset at all.

I actually think the Bulls will have the second best team on paper in the East when all is said and done. We have 2 legit All-Stars, 2 borderline All-Stars, and 2010 All-Rookie 1st teamer and $18 mil in cap space still. I think we'll be just fine, and will probably more resemble an actual basketball team rather than some NBA2K team.

I would agree Vermeer, but the way it looks to be playing out is that Mike Miller, Raja Bell, and maybe, just maybe, Derek Fisher will be joining the Heat this year. Miller's come out today and stated that he would like to be down here, Raja Bell has been talking to Reily since FA started, and Derek Fisher hasn't signed any contract with LA because of the Steve Blake acquisition and the fact they offered Blake more money than him. I believe those three, along with a Udonis Haslem and a Dorrell Wright could be lethal. LETHAL!

yeah, if you read the last sentence in my first paragraph that's exactly what I said. I wouldn't be complaining about where he went at all if he hadn't gone to the Heat.

some NBA2K team

i will say that this is the uneasy feeling i get whenever i hear that Lebron, D-Wade, and Bosh are on the same team. it still doesn't even sound real. it sounds more like something a 12-year-old kid would come up with on a custom-made team in a video game. though i know that the situation was quite different in terms of the older veteran players past their primes and ego problems that existed, the only other teams i've ever felt that way about were the 03-04 Lakers (Kobe, Shaq, Payton, and Malone) and that ridiculous late 90s Rockets team (that had Hakeem, Barkley, Pippen, and Drexler)

i think the Bulls will be in great shape if they put all that cap space they've cleared up to good use by making some more key acquisitions and trying to land another superstar in the next couple years of free agency
