Again, interesting. I think the more relevant thing though, is do the songs work together? I was just reading an interview with their guitarist & he still seems to think they havea few things to work on with the live show, but they are certain they will get there & are enjoying th challenge.

Unless they're playing in churches or prisons! I don't see how anyone would actually enjoy seeing them live. Church is just like a prison so that would at least make sense.

Also you heard Antidotes LG? Thinking it would be more your thing.

Oh damn I thought a 3.5 = Poor. Just let me adjust that.
No I haven't heard Antidotes, I wasn't really motivated to look into their earlier work from this release.

If you'd like to hear more songs like Spanish Sahara, I think there are a number of songs that follow the formula of 'subdued ballad with delicate vocal delivery(often verging on falsetto) and an undercurrent of tension leading up to a full band climax in the last quarter of the song'.
I'd start with Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead(they have a few of these, actually), then skip over to one of the best(IMHO): Bad by U2... Coldplay's version would probably be "Fix You" ... There are many examples of songs in the same mold. A lot of them are quite good as is Spanish Sahara. Stunning, really. I do hope to hear more of the unpredictable side of the foals in the future. "Two Steps, Twice" is pretty insane, especially live. I'd love to see more exploration of that territory. In the meantime, I'm happy to have Total Life Forevs. Plus where would Entourage be without Spanish Sahara this season? :-)

MutatedFreak--- I'm really looking forward to seeing them in NY this fall to hear these new songs live. Especially "the singularity is here to stay" if they chant it.

Yeah the title track has never been particularly high on my favorites from this album (possibly my least favorite actually) but I think in terms of a live track it'll be pretty awesome.
|
| |
Pretty good. I still think they need a different vocalist. Parades vocalist would fit perfectly.

"Parades vocalist would fit perfectly" Which one... They have about 5 on 'Foreign Tapes'! Maybe it's that variety you like.
"And shit I still need to hear Parades" Yeah, Rosco.
"If you'd like to hear more songs like Spanish Sahara, I think there are a number of songs that follow the formula... " All good examples... And all great songs geoff. A definite complement for 'SS' to be included in the same sentence as those tracks.

Yeah, too true. They sold out the 1st one real quick, so when a 2nd was announced, I was sure I was safe to be lazy. I was wrong. This is at the same venue that Biffy Cyro did not even sell out.
