After my first listen i'd say its very good but hard to compare to their other albums. It almost didn't sound like them for some reason, seems like its missing that atmosphere shit, still great though. I could see this getting up there with white pony and their s/t after a few more listens.

Meshuggah is Carpenter's favorite band.

I'm getting my copy with my friend tomorrow.

He has also stated that his favorite album of all time is Chaosphere by Meshuggah, saying: "The most brutal record I've heard, from second one to second last. It left me wondering where the hell I'd been the whole time."

Via Wikipedia. There's been hints before, in self-titled (When Girls Telephone Boys) and SNW (Rats!Rats!Rats!).

Yeah, it's definitely on here more than ever and more obvious. There's also a ton of atmosphere as well.

Yeah, I love the Meshuggah influence on Carpenters riffing here, it really shows. His guitar tone got even more monstrous with this record.

The bass is audible if you listen closely, and it really shines though on Beauty School and Prince.
