Im tempted to give this a 1 solely because Know Your Enemy keeps playing on my NHL 10 game and i am sick of that shit excuse for a song.

phenomenal review, album is eight good songs, and nine boring pieces of shit. that being said this band is absolutely awesome live, and they still play all the old ones, so I'm glad they're didn't thrown in the towel.

Very overstuffed and tries too hard to be a punk rock opera

there's more to music than being catchy...the message is unclear and down-right stupid in this album...that's what makes it worthy of a 2...not to mention the only reason why it is catchy is because the non-lyrical music is so sound-alike to their older work...poor effort on this album :/

This album seriously put the last coffin into Green Day's pop-punk grave or what was left of it. No longer can they even be mentioned in the same genre as pop-punk(American Idiot was a bit of a return to their pop-punk roots) they are purely just alternative rock now but I think they are too mainstream to be called even that. Their best pop-punk stuff was definatly from Insomniac and earlier(pretty much the only stuff I liked besides American Idiot). Nimrod and Warning were also quite decent but were in a different direction compared to the traditional releases. 21st Century Breakdown does have a few good songs however for the most part is an uninspired mainstream poppy clone of American Idiot with a few more questionable ideas put in for good measure.
