"futuristic and retro"

agreed, and whilst being totally ineffable and bewildering, it is a perfect mix

I've been exclusively listening to The Manifold Curiosity again and again today. An impossibly perfect song.

Blue Lambency Downward has grown on me a lot over the years, lots of strange and beautiful moments on there, especially the odd-numbered tracks. This, Dowsing, and Hubardo are their top 3 imo but BLD is getting closer, as opposed to being my least favorite like it used to be.

Manifold is an incredible achievement in song writing. It goes through like 7 different places in just 14 minutes while flowing impossibly well.

The new album isn't a Kayo Dot album, it's just a Driver album.

What do you mean? They've posted on the Kayo Dot instagram page that they've been recording new material. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjpiswbBKXH/?hl=en&taken-by=kayodotofficial

Wait, what... Shit, sorry, my mistake, I didn't know about that, I don't have Instagram. Man, Driver is quicker than I expected.

They Are The Shield was written for and performed at the Madonnawhore album release show last year, so all he had to do was record it in the studio. That and the new Kayo Dot album aren’t the only things he’s busy with. He’s also working with Vaura on a new album and he’s now in a darkwave/IDMish project called Piggy Black Cross.

Yeah, I was aware of his other projects but somehow I had no idea about the new Kayo Dot. Thanks for the information.

Imagine if the new Kayo Dot and a new Vaura both drop within 6 months after They Are The Shield, I'd try to review all three out of excitement haha

How the hell do you write something like Manifold Curiosity. Like what the fuck? Any time I hear the solo in that, or Blight of River Systems, or Birth Pains of Astral Projection, I can't help but think it's genius.

The climax of Manifold is fucking perfection.
