Steerpike: I agree. I know motherfuckers who just think Green Day sucks, and when asked why, they'll just say, "Well, they just do." I made the mistake of wearing a Green Day shirt to school, and everyone said, "Green Day SUCKS," everyone. Almost got my ass kicked. Edit: Wait, I didn't know @$$ got censored...This Message Edited On 12.03.06

I hate people like that.
"Green Day SUCKS!!"
"Yeah, almost as much as troglodytes who think insulting a band is the new black."
"Yeah, almost as much as mongoloids who think insulting a band is the highlight of their day."
"Yeah, almost as much as regressives who think saying 'That band sucks' means they're anything other than dimmer than midnight in a coal chute."
"Cheer up, emo kid!!"
"And your bad taste in music means what to me?"This Message Edited On 12.03.06

Yeah, people who hate bands like RHCP or Green Day(without even hearing more than 2 singles), just because they're popular, though they really do have talent, stump me.This Message Edited On 12.03.06

This album doesn't get enough respect because of its mainstream popularity. I'm willing to bet if Green Day remained under the radar, made this album a bit less overproduced by giving is a raw punk edge, and didn't make nearly as many videos that people would be proclaiming this the best punk album to ever be released.

I still haven't decided on this CD. I stopped listening to it I guess when it was no longer cool to listen to it ("Boulevard of Broken Dreams" becoming an uber-over played single). The political "message" is half-baked, so I didn't pay much attention to that. The music...it's decent for the most part. I guess their change was too drastic for me, I can't believe the band that made "Basketcase" has also made "Jesus of Suburbia."

It is hard to believe. I think I only like Nimrod better than this.

this CD will be classic almost like rocket to russia by the ramones, or London Calling by the Clash, it's huge, you love the singles almost as much as the ones that weren't picked as singles, no matter what anyone says Green Day brought punk back in the ninties, and it's alive and well, best track, homecoming or Jesus of Suburbia(before it became a single, now every rich white kid's sayin' they're the son of Rage & Love which is kind of annoying)This Message Edited On 12.05.06

Please don't compare this to London Calling. Like, ever again.
And Green Day did not 'bring back' punk in the 90's. That's like what someone would say if they, well, nevermind.

He did not just compare this album to London Calling. I refuse to believe he said something so profoundly stupid.

Honestly, what I think is that he did compare how big and popular this album is to London Calling, but I do not believe he compared the actual album, contents of it, or style to London Calling. I think it was just his way of saying this album is huge.

this CD will be classic
No it won't.
you love the singles
I hate the singles, except for Holiday. If you like the album that's fine, but don't try and speak for the world in its entirety.

How does a song becoming a single lower the quality of the song itself. I fail to see your logic.

Why are people still talking about this album?

Because everyone wants to bitch and complain about it, if they don't want to act like little fanboys. No, becoming a single does not lower the quality of a song in the slightest.

[/quote] Nice try, fanboy. London Calling met with nearly the entire globe's acclaim, changing the face of punk music as we know it today. Green Day put on some eyeliner and started bashing Bush, which was the "in" thing 3 years ago. Popular, maybe; successful, not by a mile. This Message Edited On 12.05.06

Popularity means nothing. In todays generation all an album has to do to be ridiculously popular is have lots of advertising and some sort of rebellious message. If it has those two things music really doesn't matter because little kids will buy it anyways.
I don't think this needs to be said but meh: London Calling>>>>American Idiot

He said it will be classic just like London Calling. I can't see that ever happening.
Yeah this was waaay more popular and successful.
What are you trying to say? My sarcasm-detector isn't working today.
