🤔 checked again and I think the key question remains…
can you legitimately 5 an album if you hate a relatively small portion of it (5%-ish, or maybe not even that - because it likely feels longer than the reality). I’m leaning yes in this most unique of situations, but it might not quite be a done deal. The rest of this is mostly incredible or at least very good. Enjoyable throughout otherwise.
For the unaware, I’m (still) talking about the deranged rambling in Peking O. It might legitimately be the only example of an otherwise perfect album having a segment of utter nonsense.

"Abbey Road : "Octopus's Garden"
One of the worst takes I've ever seen lmao

Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah, because that album is nowhere near perfect 😉

Octopus's Garden is absolute ass, Beatles should be embarrassed for ever letting that half-baked confection see the light of day let alone wedging it between two of Abbey Road's best tracks. Imagine hearing "Oh! Darling" followed by that juvenile trash and thinking "yeah man, let's release this".

Don’t they do that on most of their albums?
|

I like "Octopus' Garden". Interesting to contrast with "Don't Pass Me By," which is like one of the simplest Beatles songs ever. It's pretty elaborate all told--kinda wonder where ringo's contributions ended

octopus’s garden sucks pretty hard yeah but yellow submarine is a far worse offender for me since revolver is a lot better than abbey road

Yellow Submarine is awful, worse than Peking O for sure in this completely pointless comparison. At least Peking starts / ends well.
