Happy 13th birthday to this beaut. I love Haxprocess so much, along with I Feel the Dark, Folklore, Marrow of the Earth, and Pyre. Nepenthe, Lines in My Hand, and the t/t are excellent too. One of my most listened to albums since its release probably, and their best since then as well.

It's my least favorite as well, although I still enjoy it fine enough. Opeth have never put out a truly bad album imo

im not knocking the rock era because i do like the 3 that came after this one......i've even tried again to push this thing and it just won't go......i do like the back end much better than the front end though....those first 3 songs after the opener crush it for me

Yeah, this is the only vintage-era Opeth album that just doesn't do much for me. I feel as though the era has gotten progressively (pun intended) better with each passing album, with ICV actually rivaling a lot of the band's classic work for me

I think this is pretty accurate for my Opeth rankings:

Tier 1: My Arms, Blackwater, Ghost Reveries

Tier 2: Morningrise, Deliverance, Still Life

Tier 3: Watershed, Sorceress, Pale Communion, In Cauda

Tier 4: Orchid, Heritage, Damnation

For me:

Still Life (5)

My Arms Your Hearse (5)

Ghost Reveries (4.7)

Blackwater Park (4.5)

Watershed (4.5)

Morningrise (4.5)

In Cauda Venenum (4.5)

Damnation (4)

Sorceress (4)

Orchid (3.8)

Pale Communion (3.5)

Deliverance (3.5)

Heritage (3)

Not sure how I'd divide them up tier-wise yet

It pains me to see Deliverance so low. In my opinion of course, that record is so underrated. The only slight misstep is the closer. That album has consistently climbed in my rankings over the years.

It's impressive to still feel something when you see an Opeth ranking.

Opeth can really test friendships. A lot like American politics.

We must not give in to the sinister divide and conquer tactics. There is enough for everyone.
