Kid A is weird because you have to deal with
1) people who rate it very highly within Radiohead's discog
2) people who overrate Radiohead as the greatest band ever
3) people who overrate Kid A as the the greatest indietronica crossover ever
4) people who have given Kid A praise that doesn't really belong to any music ever (fuck you, p4k)
so ig if you're 1), it's easy enough to be strawmanned as any of the others

The weight of expectation for Kid A was ridiculous back when it came out, it was impossible not to be disappointed with it at the time if you’d previously had your mind blown by the Bends and OKC.
In Rainbows was a complete reverse it just sort of popped into being with a bit of ‘pay what you want’ marketing nonsense attached.
As time has rolled on In Rainbows has kept its mesmerising charm. Kid A remains overrated.

@Johnny.
1) well yeah it’s no.1.
2) not ever, but some of their material remains incomparable. Is that fuelled by nostalgia? Probably. Hard to tell.
3) it is, happy to look at alternative suggestions and consider them.
4) not sure what P4k said but I could definitely do this if required, mine relates to how the album impacted me personally though - not a critical dissection resulting in ideas of unparalleled greatness.
If anything OKC’s impact on me lessens with time, whereas Kid A’s remains steadfast. This is a wonderful album yet I had previously thought it could never hold a candle to either, now it has surpassed the former.
