Diamond Eyes is deftones' worst song and it's not even close

Stephen is my least favorite part of that song. That's the first song where he really let his repetitive chugga chugga Meshuggah obsession overtake his more original style.

DE vs SNW though, that's a tough one. SNW has more stand out songs but Chino sounds better on DE...so tie?

it is kind of a tie. I maybe lean towards SNW but it's hard. They're like mirror images honestly which is really weird and ironic considering how they were made and who was involved

things I noticed about Diamond Eyes after not listening to it for years:



still love the title track, fuck yall

CMND CTRL is the most nu metal they’ve sounded since Around the Fur

Prince is fucking gold

As far as soft songs go Beauty School > Sextape

and god damn I’ve been sleeping on 976 EVIL for over a decade. that song is incredible

that album was more or less my formal introduction to deftones and its the immediate sound I think of when I hear 'deftones'. diamond eyes more or less covers all the sounds they've done and in an easy to digest way for someone listening for the first time
