Yeah the thing about social class etc. means nothing to me, won't change the way I hear it. Fair enough though. Thanks Tacos that's actually a really nice uplifting thing to say. I feel like I'm not worthy, or something...

Dang. I seem to be stuck on 95% objectivity despite all these bizarre ratings of classic albums. Oh well...

It must help, no? I've got some really obscure stuff rated, I know that helps also.

i'm pretty sure it's just a silly representation of your rating distribution

Doof has pretty much proven that it has to do with how close your average is to 3.00 and how close your variance is to 1.00

100% objectivity means you waste a lot of time listening to music that sucks just to prove a point.

Speak for yourself...

It makes me better person. It's my meaning for existence, the holy grail. I'd sell my soul for 100%. Why do you think I've given this a 3 amongst other things? It's tough, you have to avoid complete transparency, not make it too obvious you're just here for that big, juicy, golden prize. I'm sweating profusely just thinking about it... need to go take a cold shower, cool off.

Over 75% objectivity is always kinda worrying imo

"Over 75% objectivity is always worrying imo" How come? I would say the opposite.

it should go without saying that the rating system can have entirely different purposes for different users and it really doesn't matter how you use it or what your objectivity score is

It means that you probablly listen to a lot of music that you know you won't like

I mean, why listen to a whole album of shit so you can 1 it. I obviously did it before but won't do it again, it's a waste of time.

that's probably a fair point but i personally listen to absolutely everything in case i will like it and/or out of morbid curiosity

"It means that you probablly listen to a lot of music that you know you won't like" I personally don't see anything wrong with this as long as your genuine with your ratings. I also think its as important to know what you dislike as much as what you like.

Yes, I agree that you have to hear music you don't like to test the borders of your taste, but why whole albums. Three songs in the car radio on the way to work are more than enough imo hahah

I guess with rating averages, variance etc it all depends on the number of ratings. If you had 100% obj w 600 rating I might question if your opinions were genuine. But if you had 5000+ ratings w a variance of 0.9 I'd say you were extremely aware of your taste.
