I want to understand this. What makes it so special? None of this is particularly bad & it's certainly not irritating but it doesn't stand out either. It's painfully inoffensive to my (probably defective) ears. I'm not talking about influence & standing in music history either, what makes listening to it special, forgetting reputation etc?
For me, anything mid-tempo & laid back such as this needs to either have astounding moments of genuine beauty, or be super-creative. It definitely doesn't have the former & only has the latter if I go back in time to when this was released... now it's not quite the same.

It's a miasmic warning of societal class structure and standards entwined with stunning musicianship and convalescence from the band which was put out in a time of nihilism and bile which has echoed through the 40yrs since its release. it also has pretty artwork.
