Like 20% of all chugs are genuinely good and artistic, agreed

yes (4) to Axe having more of a unique quality whereas this is just a solid refinement of what they've done up to this point. I appreciate the cohesiveness and restraint shown here, but it ain't reinventing none of their wheels (doesn't have to, Axe just feels revolutionary in comparison).

I still remember watching the video for Axe and being like, my god I feel violated.

After letting this sit with me for a bit, I think Gilded Cage might be my favorite song off this

"Axe to fall is definitely better. Way more of a visceral and unique record."
Yeah, I feel this too. Someone said it was a bit homogeneous, but... this is way more homogeneous than Axe. Not to knock on this because that homogeneity services the album well insofar as it all flows well and sounds like it belongs, but Axe fs has more distinct-sounding tracks

I don’t think anyone hates it lol, i just think this is better is all
They’re my favorite band of all time, I literally rate them on a different scale from every other band. Ngl at least half of their albums are 5’s, I just get in my head and can’t really justify giving this, or Axe to Fall for that matter, the same rating I would Jane Doe or You Fail Me when the truth is I think literally all of their albums would land in my top 50 oat minus Halo, Bloodmoon, and maybe When Forever Comes Crashing

It's negligible, yeah. It doesn't seem like anyone here is saying one is bad and the other is a masterpiece. I'm def partial to Axe, but I can see why someone might prefer this.
Also I had no clue this was your favourite band full stop! Idk if I could ever narrow it down to just one band; I tend to go through phases with my favourites. If I had to pick a favourite a few years ago, it probably would've been Steely Dan.

Same here Gyro, favorite bands are like a spectrum as you get older and can change based on so many circumstances. Converge is definitely in my top 5-10 though. Idk if I could narrow down to a definitive favorite but if asked I say Primus

jrlikestodance: lol bro... That is so uncanny. My friend Dave today asked if I wanted to do a Primus discog run, so we listened to Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda a few hours ago. Crazy coincidence. Also both those albums rule very hard and have some of the funniest/most entertaining lyrics.

who in the fuck said axe to fall was homogenous lol. probably their most experimental album.

Hell yea dude! Two of my all time favorite records. Keep on digging, I think every album has something to offer even some of the underwhelming ones. They're a band that opens new stuff on every revisit imo
I'm due for a discog run myself. Catching my 9th and 10th Primus shows this summer (:

Whoa! That's dedication. I'm thinking of going to see them as well at Rochester Hills in May. Was considering dibbing the new Claypool Lennon Delirium album coming out in May, maybe even seeing if I can interview them.
"who in the fuck said axe to fall was homogenous lol. probably their most experimental album."
Idk if someone else called it that, but I was saying this album is a lot more homogeneous than Axe, which I think has a lot of variety.

I'd actually say AWLWLB might be their most experimental but ATF is easily 2nd in that regard.
