Hey pit, quoted from the review about track 1:
"The song immediately discredits any inhibitions one could have about the band; starting off as a mid-paced death metal song, only to slow down and take a more progressive route a minute and a half."
Note the DEATH METAL part of the sentence. I guess I said "deathcore" which must be much different from "death metal." I was, however, on the right track on describing what I was hearing. Guess what: I fucking HATE death metal with all of my heart.

So you're saying they just implement their death metal badly in this album?

I'm not too accustomed to death metal, however I hate Slayer's "Reign in Blood" which is supposed to be the mother of death metal.
I'm open to listening to some death metal bands you think are worth giving a chance though.

qwe3, tell Tyler Munro, not me. It's funny how you're indirectly saying a staff member with a first spot review is wrong about what is or isn't in this album.

death metal sucks and is not in this album

I hear a lot of death metal in this album. I just listened to a bunch of bands on youtube; they use unmusical fast picking verses, and fast repetitive drumming countless times just like death metal bands. The screaming isn't the same, but that's the main difference. I JUST compared a bunch of these death metal bands to the first few songs on TSC; a LOT of similarities, especially in pace. And I'm not saying BTBAM doesn't implement a good share of metalcore either, making them a hybrid that transcends in a kind of cool way.

So because I have an opinion about death metal, I'm retarded?

idk man I think there might be. haven't listened to this in years but I do remember that at the end of one song there was a "black metal" section.

He said it himself qwe3! Read the damn review; he says the first song begins like a mid-paced DEATH METAL song. A lot of the album has material quite close in style to the first song.
The band isn't specifically death metal obvously, but the parts that relate to death metal (in pace, tonality, etc) annoy the hell out of me.

I know what I hear. I know what the average death metal sounds like, and I hear it a lot in The Silent Circus. You're saying my ears don't work? That when I listen to BTBAM my ears magically make me hear death metal when it's really not? Fuck off, loser. I know what I'm talking about, and you just don't want me to.
