even tho the first four minutes and 40 seconds of fire above is lame...the outro to that song....god...top 10 of all time material

The Mantle definitely isn't their best by far. Odal is enough reason to put it below both this and Pale Folklore, which is where it belongs. Still an awesome album, but drags too much at some points.

The Mantle isn't their best, no, but it's better than this in my humble opinion.

I used to think the Mantle was the best but now I'm not sure any more.

It's not black metal. Basically just post-rock/metal with some black metal-esque vocals. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.

Does it have clean singing? And how folky is it?

It does have clean vocals, but minimal folk on this one.

Yeah I probably won't listen to it, clean vocals are for pansies.

Angel is right, Pale Folklore is pretty much folk black metal, The Mantle is a mix of black metal and post-rock with a lot of acoustics, and this is also the black metal/post-rock with a lot less acoustics than The Mantle.

The vocals are "clean" per se. They're often somewhat growled. I mean they're easily intelligible.

I like this a lot more for the atmosphere it creates.

You couldn't go wrong with starting with this one then just working backwards.
