I agree and it's so weird, I don't even have much of a desire to revisit this and this band was SO important to me. It's good but does not affect me in any way close to the earlier material. I'll just jam Jaded and Blessed Be and be good

now that you cleared it up yea I can see what you mean, but idk it def didn't give me shoegaze vibes because that terms gets thrown everywhere now. def deftones but also gave more of a dark evanescence/techno vibe ala queen of the damned aesthetic

totally agree. I probably wouldn't consider it shoegaze either but that's what people love to say these days about anything with reverb on it lol. I'm just getting a little tired of the amount of metalcore bands trying to inject Deftones into their sound because it reads as an obvious trend to me. Oh well, I much prefer the way you describe it.

I love the trend when done right but it got too far removed down the line

I mean, it is true, but I kind of dig it when bands inject Deftones into their sound. Loathe is at their best when they do it. Also Deep End is the Loathe (and by default Deftones) sounding one, it reminds me A LOT of A Sad Cartoon.
