This album has straight up by far gotten the least amount of anti-hype I've ever seen in all my time on this site and I've been here since 2005 lol, I just don't think there's anything to complain about personally

No anti-hype naysayers are made equally. I have seen many a hyperbolic claim in here, but I’ve also seen a few people (potentially) attempting to clutch at those last escaping remnants of personality. Individualism is all well and good unless you’re catering it to a preconceived shtick. Adjudicate any derailments wisely and by their own merits. Regardless, it’s inevitable this will fall, because they all do eventually



Bloody good album btw. I for one, hereby declare that I shall not be partaking in any derailment

the usual trajectory for any hyped albums goes like:



1) initial group of established fans for band get into new release and inflate the average -> 2) people who like the genre generally also like the album but may conclude it is not the best in genre -> 3) people who don't normally care for this style of music listen to it and understandably are not into the album (the exceptions here may be indicative of the actual quality of the album, if it can convert genre outsiders)

+ anti-hype (marginalized and irrelevant)

pretty sure the 'naysayers' just don't like the album
and my recent couple of jams have produced a bunch of new reasons why that take is dumb+wrong, but there's nothing intellectual about having a bad take or being loud about it

Well tbf I’ve thought Clairvoyant (and the band as a whole) has been overrated on this website. Not this tho, I did not expect them to drop something this fire. I was expecting a good-great screamo record not something this amazing.



So I’m not a fanboy going into this release cycle but I am one leaving it

I was poised to deem this album a disappointment cause I had built up the possibilities of what it could be, and what I wanted it to be in my head to the point I didn’t think my expectations were going to be even close to met.

yeah exactly this tbh (although R/D fucks and largely deserves its reputation) - was sympathetic to the Clairvoyant hype but never really on board with it, and expected a bunch of reheated hot air over this one. love it when a band proves you underestimated them

think I could dish out a tier list for this soon, the goods, greats and single eh are falling into place
