Innervision is top tier agreed. Mr. Jack and Streamline too.

Letting Daron sing more was always a wrong decision though, though both his and Serj's voices can get annoying in their own ways

I feel like the only reason Daron became lead was just because serj’s voice was fucked by that point, you can hear it on the last two albums

Na Serj sounds fine on elect the dead. My theory is daron and his ego tried to take over the band on the last two albums and it selfimploded

Daron and Serj's harmonies are always pretty awesome though, their voices just fit together

Yeah their two voices do fit together very nicely. Deron's high pitched notes sung on his own can be rough.

I always kind of got the same feeling. Deron even recorded all of the bass parts for the last 2 albums.

Yeah that fuckin sucks for Shavo, his bass performances on their first three albums is pretty damn good. His intros to Mr Jack and Mind? are some of my favorite bass intros and some of the first bass lines I’ve played

Yeah he's got some stellar bass lines. And a really groovy and distinctive tone. Aerials was the first song I ever learned to play on bass.

I always thought it was weird how low in the mix and bland the bass was on mezhyp.

I don’t think Daron singing lead was necessarily an ego thing tho because you can just hear how fucked serj’s voice was on those two, I think they were trying to give him a break more than anything

"Odadjian, who had grown up playing guitar and hadn't picked up a bass until he was almost old enough to legally drink, told Revolver that his bandmates ultimately called him out during the sessions because of his sub-par playing.

"They were like, 'Dude, you're a bass player who plays better guitar than bass. What the hell is wrong with you?'" Odadjian laughed. "Daron would say to me, 'Practice your bass! Practice your bass every day!' But I was looking at practice like work, like schoolwork. I would come home every day after practicing with the band, and play guitar for hours. I was 'good enough' on bass, so why should I have to practice it at home? But then I realized, I strive to be the best at everything else I do — why haven't I applied that to this thing, which is supposed to be my life?"

"Daron had written a lot of crazy things [for Mezmerize/Hypnotize] that you'd need to practice before you play them, especially to put those tracks on a record," he continued, explaining why Daron ultimately played most of the bass parts. "After we were all done, I came home, and all I did was practice. Before, I was like, 'I know how to play the bass!' But I forgot why I loved my instrument so much; it was like it became a job. But if you really practice at it, you get better so fast, and I'm so back into it now. Now, when I think of playing an instrument, I grab the bass instead of the guitar.""

I'll be damned.

I mean, I doubt he had much input into the lyrics tbh - Daron and Serj kinda had that super covered

It's not about input I have no idea how they even associate with each other without understanding the context behind their beliefs.

Same with steph carpenter being a flat earther while traveling the globe.
