lux aeterna def has megadeth/kill em all vibes. itβs grown on me a lot since it was released as a single
darkness and room of mirrors are prob my top 2 but even the weakest tracks on here are better than the weakest on DM/hardwired

"I honestly dont think theres a "bad" song on the album."
"Sleepwalk My Life Away" is the only filler song I can think of, but I agree there isn't anything bad by any means. I think this song works more if you place it after "Crown of Barded Wire" as track 7. Might bump my rating.

sleepwalk is actually on my top 3 of the album. i love the intro, the grooves of the verse riff is awesome, and the chorus is probably my favorite on the album

Have you guys heard Trey Xavier's "Prisoner Of Apathy" yet? He wrote it as a song in the style of Metallica as a response to the blah singles on 72S and tbh It's better than anything on this record lol. Metallica should pay him for the rights and officially adopt it, but I doubt Lars or even Kirk would be up to playing it

they played until it sleeps last night for the first time in 15 years
hope they continue to play more rarities like that
i noticed with these new setlists (along with this new album) they are really cutting down on the faster thrashy type stuff. they can't not play one, master etc. but outside of those they're playing like one "battery" style track and that's it. on the first night, holier than thou and fuel are probably like two of the top 4 most up-tempo songs played that night

i really like the kill em all vibe of lux aeterna... its like hit the lights from the perspective of a band who has truly done it all, diamond head shout out and all
i think a lot of moments on death magnetic and hardwired that felt like they were lazily lifting old ideas feel a lot more purposely self-referential here.
