yeah too bad melodeaf bands haven't progressed beyond the basic level of education so they're stuck with a limited set of tools

Early IF and DT rule yeah
was mainly making fun of the more modern kind a la reroute to remain
|
| |
Melodeath def wore off of me after I got into the more riffy dirty stuff but i still have a soft spot for those minor thirds boi

Dream theater was my favorite band in 9th grade and now I can’t even listen to them without snickering. It’s funny how things change

I get ya botb
I used to listen to a lot of tech death in middle school but now I never feel like it because most of it sounds so silly, save a couple bands

Reroute to Remain and Come Clarity are great tho tbh and honestly the more "riffy dirty" stuff really depends on my mood and I never really find myself going to metal for the "heavy riffs" in all honesty, it's about the dark atmosphere more so
|
| |
Yeah yeah ADB, different strokes different folks for sure. The theatrics mostly turns me off (it’s actually my main qualm with this band post p1) but a handful of bands do it justice. When it comes to atmosphere I guess I prefer slow burn post metal stuff over super melodic stuff.
|
| |
Come Clarity is great as long as you don’t read the lyrics. Edit: Applies to most In Flames actually

melody can be found beyond drop c tuning, but people ain't willing to look
|

I’ll take some Suffocate for fucks sake over anything post clayman for sure

You enjoyed having Take This Life on guitar hero and you know it.

Haha dude anders’ cleans are soooooooooo bad. There was a time I played the shit out of that though, just even rosy red nostalgia glasses can’t save how cringe some of that stuff is to me now

Anders' cleans have a certain emotion to them that I really like. Title track to Come Clarity and especially The Chosen Pessimist come to mind. It's like he's crying out for help in the latter song and really struggling. Post-metal stuff rules hard though.

tuneless constipation is my favourite emotion also
