Personally I think post-our color green glassjaw has way more in common with this album than either of the bands albums pre-2005
I’ve always thought those releases leaned wayyyy more into punk and emo. This album though I still have a hard time trying to figure out. It’s absolutely more jazz and rocknroll influenced but I feel like there’s more I’m missing
There’s a reason this album was met with anger from fans of both bands lol. This was a huge departure from previous work. Obv this is all relative to being in the same progressive post hardcore genre in the early 2000’s

Okay and they both have crazy talented and eccentric vocalists, that’s gonna draw a lotta comparisons between the bands regardless

Def recommend giving it another spin. Ink is great but it’s not one of the albums best tracks imo

Ink is the sole reason why I even bothered to give these guys a chance after hearing WIITB. That song really does fuck.

Yeah I only found Finch cuz it was on Madden 05 lol
Crazy how video games completely influenced my music tastes while growing up. Idk if I would’ve gotten into harder music/metal at all if not for madden, atv off-road fury 2 (where I first hear SOAD), and need for speed underground

Nvm it was madden 06. Damn I’m looking thru those track lists now… avenged sevenfold, thrice, b4mv, etc etc. whoever made those from like 2003-2006 crushed it

Game soundtracks in the early-mid 2000's shaped my life I swear lol. Racing game soundtracks especially, Burnout 3 had so many bangers. I discovered Yellowcard, Funeral For a Friend, Atreyu, Killswitch, and Underoath through old racing games

I grew up on the NHL games and the soundtracks from 2003-2008 were filled with bands I discovered on there and ended up loving, like Letter Kills, Bullet for My Valentine, and Enter Shikari. Burnout 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted had ridiculous tracklists too.
