Haha, ok, yeah you can pretty much name any song here as 2nd or 3rd (apart from maybe Benighted)

I like White Cluster, but not nearly as much as everything else (apart from godshead and benighted)

I used to hate benighted. The only song that does not "click" for me from this is Moonlapse Vertigo, but it's still awesome.

Moonlapse is just classic Opeth through and through for me. I don't hate Benighted, I just don't love it as much as the others

well Benighted is awesome in it's context in the album, since it kinda slows the pace after The Moor and Godhead. This may be my favorite opeth album, even if i usually listen to more songs from BP.

Is "structure" in music really necessary tho? I think not.

"This band should have learned how to structure rather than just being pointless"

"its get a bit formulaic for me, i always knew what to expect"

HOLY MOLEY GOOD ANALYSIS!!

definitely not, but I think they have plenty of structure most of the time, yea they have some long drawn out parts but everything mostly comes full circle in the end with nice touches on top

benighted is extremely well written. the "pointless structures" of the other songs are just mike's influences from 70's prog bands shining through.

they don't know how because they're unaware. the guy who thinks they're boring hasn't heard gong, hatfield and the north, or gryphon! it's possible he may not even have heard camel!
