you actively seek out music like this you are not allowed to complain about it sounding too much like another beanie band

The first time I heard this band via Black Mile I thought he sounded exactly like the Fleet Foxes dude so that certainly isn't new.

I've tried listening to this quite a few times in various ways. Feel like it'll go down further if I keep trying.

Oddly enough, I seem to be the only one here that quite likes "Keel."

I can sort of see the Fleet Foxes comparison but I've been listening to both bands so long that I feel like they're totally separate entities.

Also, what's so bad about sounding like Robin Pecknold? The dude is an amazing singer.

Robin shares their name with Robinhood, the controversial stock trading app, which causes many people to dislike them outright due to their name crimes. Unavoidable dilemma, sadly.

Oh man, I would love to get into Manchester Orchestra but any time I listen to their albums (this, METN, the first one) I literally feel nothing. I'm capable of discerning that this is objectively good music, but somehow it doesn't reach me. I also remember nothing from the record. Maybe I will give TMMoG another shot someday, hopefully after reading lyrics and putting my headphones on so I can focus. In case anyone has any doubt, this isn't me slagging the band. I'm just whining cause I hate when I cannot get into a band that on paper seems perfect for me.

Try out simple math or Black Mile. Maybe those will click. Good luck.

If you can listen to The Silence and feel nothing then you might actually have no soul (just kidding)

this is a very okay album on first listen, didn't hear anything that comes close to the highs of Black Mile
