Yes, this album is amazing. So catchy and still maintains their signature sound

After a couple more listens, I find myself appreciating this a lot more than I initially did.

Wish I enjoyed this is as much as you guys and most people on here. Underwhelming for me, especially according to their talent. Not sure when they'll diversify from this "stretch a single minimalistic idea to oblivion" approach

Definitely their most simple recording
But that's ok as it will hold its place in their discography, especially when on a Leprous binge but while also looking for diversity of their sound

binging through all their albums as we speak

Yeah I get that titan, but even in that context a lot of songs here bore me. They have good ideas but never seem to really take off. I don't need Bilateral level chaos, but fucking hell put in a distorted guitar every now and then, or some driving rhythms

Friendly reminder that Below could easily be a Eurovision song
And it couldnt stop fucking thinking about that when I saw them live

@Omair You mean to say that THAT non-rattling snare on Alleviate is not driving enough for you!?

I get though why someone would dislike the album, it certainly wasn't what I was expecting either - maybe that's what hooked me

That's what jarred me and initially put me off was just how different it sounded from what I expected

I think expectations can ruin spectacular albums. I got into Opeth and Mastodon with their 2011 releases and I loved both insanely, while people who already knew them were disappointed. That's something I keep in mind when I don't get what I want

Distant Bells is amazing still
@Myth: My expectations were pretty low after Malina, so initially when I heard the album I wasn't as disappointed as a lot of old school fans. But the album didn't have much staying power with me

To me there's a difference between high/low expectations and style expectations, that's how I meant it

This definitely won't have as many repeat listens from me as their other projects but but I can still enjoy a lot of material here and respect that they maintained their "progressive" aspect and signature sound while totally violating expectations

def their album i come back to the least, still solid one. The combo of At the Bottom + Distant Bells is a perfect "im in a car/bus" option

Honestly, for me the newest Leprous is always my go to, and so far it has always been this way. Just listened through all of their albums and they have yet to release something I don‘t like.

Is Einar allergic to playing the keyboards live now?

probably to make the other members of the band feel included after not being able to play on half the tracks here

His vocal passage sounds easy but this shit's hard. I think it's better if he lets other bandmates play it while he focuses on maxing out the singing, isnt it?

I'm liking this more as time goes on, I'll admit. His vocals are so stellar, I can't be too mad at this.
