"Yup. Very well said. That's my main gripe with this album. She's doing amazing while the production just does nothing interesting or original."

I wouldn't say "nothing," but the interesting parts are rare. I rather like that sparkly keyboard intro and background to the T/T, horns on Bloodline, the delay riff on Bad Idea... it's really a pretty sparse production, though. I liked her better with the 90s throwback on her debut, the dense electronic dance from Into You, or the disco-esque Greedy. I just feel like she hasn't found a sound that works consistently for her. This and Sweetener feel a little bloodless at times. Best moments are rather hypnotic though.

You gonna tell me Rick Beato has no critical thinking ability or any musical sense?

@largemint sure that pertains to a lot of the audience. But a lot of haters seem to come here thinking theyve cracked open pandoras box or solved an elusive algorithm when they tell people that mainstream music and film are consumerist oriented, designer products, but that's really just not news to anyone. Some people just dont care and can enjoy some mindless catchy pop while keeping it seperate from more "artful" music.

Rick Beato is a joke sometimes yes. He thinks atonality was a post modernist movement.

And let me just add: trying to make artful music doesn't automatically make the music more artistic; trying to make artless (consumerist) music doesn't automatically make the music less artistic. Art isn't just concept and intention, it's also craft and execution--I'd argue it's even more of the latter--and there are good and bad craftsmen in every genre making music for every type of audience. Usually, dismissing all pop is less an artistic judgment and more a bid for coolness masquerading as such.

So he gets the era of a movement wrong (and only slightly; it's modernist) and that means he has no critical thinking ability or musical sense? Seems a bit extreme. Anyone who's watched his music theory lectures or track production breakdowns would realize he knows his shit. That doesn't mean he's perfect/flawless, but, c'mon.
