Me too. Find Crowhurst kinda unappealing, almost ugly. (Still enjoy it, ultimately, but think WAD is particularly gorgeous.) Wish there was more movement, everything interesting in the production feels like it's all happening at once.

I hear Dessner all over these two new songs and not in a good way. the tape loop drums of what a day.. the distorted guitar during the verses of crowhurst... and other random, pointless and distracting electronic additions.

Dessner has a gift for adding 75 layers to a song and still having it sound like nothing is happening at all

Definitely not hating the new ones anymore, but I feel like Ben has some unique characteristics in his playing style that are a big factor in why his music is as good as it is, and Dessner's production style does more to mitigate that than enhance it
