I can see why people don't like the album. Weird cover, first track is a lot lighter in tone than their previous work, some songs literal, some full of dry humor. There's a lot of variety in this one. For me the quality is right up there next to the first two albums, which are very special to me personally.

Gets really preachy the more you get into it but it's quite enjoyable overall, I'd say. Not that balanced though, the first half is far superior to me.

First 2 tracks are a snoozefest then it kinda picks up. The closer is embarrassing.

Can´t understand why so much hate.. I think this is a really solid album. MJK performance is sublime.

Eat the Elephant is not an easy listening album. It's very convoluted and pretentious. Some people don't look for that and return dissatisfied. I wouldn't call it a bad album, but it's a very polarizing one. APC did a complete 180 on everyone's expectations. Eat the Elephant is definitely one that takes time to enjoy.

I actually think this is very easy to listen to. It's about as straightforward a rock album as there can be. It's just really well done hence the high score.

Maybe to us it's straightforward, but people still misidentify the main idea of the record. It's about reconnecting to ones environment, but people still fail to realize that.

13th Step deals with darker themes as well. There's still substance to it, but it's moody and atmospheric.

"Eat the Elephant is not an easy listening album. It's very convoluted and pretentious" I'm with Droptune. people from different backgrounds are digging this. It's pretentious but imo your expectations don't get defrauded as you (re)listen to it

"If you want a better take on their softer sound, 13th Step is the way to go. This one just sounds like it's on life support most of the time." [2]

Zeuzo how can you say that and still give it a 4. Besides he sounds great here even if he's not aiming for the rafters.

I wouldn't exactly say that, but he certainly went very safe this time around

... How can you even listen to TalkTalk and ever think that? I mean, it's not Ticks and Leeches, but still.
