New single was released through a companion Steam VR game for the album (Windows only).

Hahah "game" = yet another walking sim taking advantage of quick low-effort iteration and built-in SteamVR integration in the Unreal engine.
I'm a huge SteamVR/Index head and a hobbyist VR dev myself so...I might as well take a look.

I think I read somewhere that Dan was involved in the coding development himself but I forget where.
It's really just a promo for the album and something fun for fans, but it's nothing like when Dream Theater made a turn-based strategy game for The Astonishing.

Dan definitely was involved, he's been fixing bugs live on stream. Actually kind of interesting to see.

Cover art on that second single is atrocious lol

idk man I'm really not crazy about The Grey. The verse is smooth but that's about it. I think I just don't care for Dan's lyrical content anymore, and the long notes of distortion have overstayed their welcome for me.

I thought both songs are fine but it feels like it's more or less gonna be the same which has me worried

Honestly it’s kind of wild to me that a band initially so focused on progressing their sound (One, Perspective and Altered State) is now in a situation where they put out the same album over and over again (and apparently need to be strong armed by the label to put out anything at all)

I wouldn't mind them shaking things up a good bit tbh. And I also really don't care about Dan's lyrics so far. I guess this angsty stuff doesn't work for me as that well anymore unless it's written by Daniel Gildenlöw. No one writes horny edgy boi lyrics quite like him

It is definitely a safe single and hope the rest of the album takes some more risks, but it's also really catchy and the pre-chorus is glorious.

I think the lyrics are probably the last thing you'd listen to Tesseract for, but agree they aren't consistently good. Some good stuff here and there though.
