Also don't get the Fallujah comparisons. Yeah they both have spacey leads but what they do with them are quite different. These guys strike me more as a zanier Black Crown Initiate or something.

Expanding on what I said earlier about the problems I had with this album, I think I realized the core of those problems for me: the entire thing just sounds "busy" without really having much meaning for me. Overcrowded, overstuffed instrumental work without much respect to just letting a certain groove or moment just play out. I like the band's use of a dreamlike atmosphere, but it gets largely ruined by the distracting brickwalled production, in which the thick guitar distortion drowns everything out.



I know I'm focusing so much on the flaws, but this album has so many nice moments and the stuff that drags it down is so fucking annoying because of the missed potential (at least for me, of course)

pretty much yeah, there isn't much substance to the guitarwork imo; too much garnish, not enough meat and potatoes

could probably distill the best moments of this and make a decent ep

They tend to find a cool riff or chug pattern and then just bail on it or layer so much stuff on top of it that you miss it.
I know there are some cool riffs under the layers of noise

Somethings start being enjoyable when you stop overthinking it. Not everything is riffs, this one as few agreed. Not everything is atmosphere and this one as a lot, agreed. Still think this has strong songwriting, mainly in the first half of it. Cool solos! It doesn't seems to me "glued" or "patchwork", despite his variety of genre and vocaly, it flows pretty natural to me.
