he mostly is not a fan of its chorus and thinks he coulda written better, saw an interview from the bodies cycle where he brought up how he feels bad whenever people namedrop that song around him as a result lol

Crazy because the chorus feels like something straight off of Sing the Sorrow. Guess I shouldn't expect to see it in any setlists next time I see them.

i think anything they've played that doesn't involve mostly screaming is pretty fair game. just looked up some vids of it and they played it a few times in 2018

This album felt like SUUUUCH a letdown after STS. There are a few really strong tracks still and The Missing Frame is one of the best songs any band has ever written.

And our lives look smaller now,
And our lives look so small.

So this is fine. Miss Murder and The Missing Frame rule. Still a definite step down from STS and the lyrics are egregious most of the time lol but this is pretty standard 2000s stuff with flashes of brilliance. I don’t like how he does this thing when his voice kinda just trails off at the end of a lyrics, particularly in verses lol

Some of the best tracks from these sessions were b-sides:
Fainting Spells, On the Arrow, Rabbits are Roadkill, Carcinogen Crush, Ether, The View From Here, Fallen Like the Sky...
Pretty crazy just how different this album could have been. Based on the recent interview, it sounds like this was the first AFI album that their label had a lot of say in. Davey said they brought a completed album to them and they basically said "ehhh, try again"

Rabbits is actually from StS session, it's just that it was also included as a bonus track on some DU versions. (Confession: I don't really like Rabbits). Carcinogen was actually during StS too but the version we have is a DU re-record.
But yeah, still some great DU b sides.
