Band used to resemble a velociraptor...now they're a diplodocus. Depends which you prefer.

The diplodocus is bigger, steadier...but slow witted.

perhaps a more apt analogy would be a woolly mammoth

Nobody knew what a velociraptor was until it was trademarked in Jurassic Park.

Now they say a real raptor would have been covered head to foot in feathers - killer chicken

All that 'dinosaurs looked like this, would've done that' stuff changes every 5 minutes. Total conjecture innit.
I think they were super intelligent beings who wiped themselves out because they couldn't pick up guitars cos they have tiny little hands.

My latest theory is they all sang like birds - the T-Rex dawn chorus, probably sounded like Vanessa Feltz sobbing on Big Brother turned up by a few hundred decibels and multi tracked

Sounds like he's making up for those small hands

Sex would have to come into it somewhere. T-Rex was a sensitive lover. LOL!! MY point summed up.
I can't stand the metro, fucking ludicrous.

Fair enough, style over substance! I gotcha, but it felt like the right step forward at the time.

I don't want to hear the same thing y'know.. especially in the metal world.. things get old.. as funny as that is to say because Blood Mountain is pretty damn crazy and wild!

and I liked the change of pace afterwards. Blood Mountain is my third favorite.. only knicks it ;-) 'Sleeping Giant' is one of my all-time favorites though! Always looked at it like Leviathan & Crack The Skye (maybe not as ferocious, but smarter eh) are the king dinos.. followed by Blood Mountain.. now this one.. I think I stand by better than the last two sentiment.

Top 4 looks good to me

It does seem like Crack The Skye was that turning point for some Mastodon fans

I love it even more now! Ha ha I don't know maybe it was those Ozzy esque vocals and melodies, loved it when I first heard it.. albeit different or I've grown soft with age! Struck that perfect balance of tight craftsmanship.. precise
