"maybe not now but the direction they're going seems to hint at a possible move to that type of schlock"

I find it hard to believe you've actually listened to this now

There’s nothing on the album that indicates that to me. Their heavy riffs are more reminiscent of 90s metalcore than the likes of Wage War or anything like that.

I mean “Forever Hurtling Towards Andromeda” has Sean Ingram doing vox with some sick mathy riffs at the end, and the chorus vocal melody with the guitar melody man

Yea I’m not sure why you’d think Norma Jean are becoming a chuggy beatdown hardcore band

This is a stellar metalcore record agent

I cannot believe you consider ABR to be better than this

It's "tuned too low"

I mean not all ABR is top notch but Found In Far Away Places has a bit more going on instrumentally than some parts of this record.

well if it didn't rely as heavily on the open tonic it would be better

that song in F# works better than half the songs in A imo because of the way it was composed

I hope Deathbat never listens to The Acacia Strain, it might trigger him

No it doesn't. It really doesn't. Just because it's tuned too low doesn't mean there isn't lots of instrumental stuff happening on the record.

Besides, by that logic holy hell should be a 1/5 record for you.

ABR is a lot more flashy with their playing but I don’t find their writing nearly as good as Norma Jean

That being said, the only ABR album I like is Thrill Seeker

I don't mind the few tracks I've heard but I don't foresee myself feeling too fondly of a full album

and I'm not even bashing the whole album jesus christ I'm noting stuff that i don't think works as well, even the worst offenders are at least a 2.5-3 imo here because they still do it better than other bands that tried the low tonic reliance

Low tuning doesn't equal bad you dingus. There's nothing trendy about this album at all. Norma Jean was trendy like 15 years ago but not anymore.

Agent just hates low tuning because Meshuggah killed his family.

I don't think it's their best album either.

Alejandro is right, as always.
