Gave this a spin for the first time in quite a while and it was like revisiting with an old friend. It's amazing after all this time time that every second of this album is buried deep in my memory as being special. I remember discovering this album at age 20 and driving back and forth to the community college with this thing spinning in a cd player I had attached to a tape deck in my piece of shit car. I am 35 now and I am still locked into this album more now than ever. I digress

Yeah I don't think you need to "get" it... I think you just need to appreciate the color palette presented on this album. This album touches a little bit of every genre without aping it. The music almost has a cartoonish whimsy to it as well which I think lends the color to it I mentioned earlier. After five more spins you will be like "holy shit" or maybe not
